ALZHEIMERS ART AUCTION/ BALBOA PARK, CA
Regional Show – Balboa Park – San Diego, CA
It took me many years to find the courage to express myself in my paintings.
Art was always a very important part of my life and to this day I remember my very first real art experience: A show in Bremen, Germany, of Expressionist Painters. In particular a painting by Ernst Ludig Kirchner. I was able to hear the waterfall, smell the damp air and marvel at his colors and brush strokes. I was only a teenager……
Born in Koenigsberg, East Prussia (now Kaleningrad/Russia) my family escaped twice from the Communist Regimes.
And then in 1964 I left Bremen, Germany and immigrated to the United States.
……AND NOW….. SINCE 2011 I AM LIVING AGAIN IN GERMANY……THE CIRCLE HAS CLOSED.
Photography was my first passion. It is the challenge of holding on to images, light, special moments, and pushing the envelop.
But when I reached for the brush I really allowed myself to become creative.
My mentor: Reed Cardwell, Artist and Art Teacher, SanDiego, California, USA
Reed Cardwell thaught me: „not to paint what I see but what I prefer to see,“ which was this painter’s
philosophy
